Peachland and Okanagan Activities and Events

Now that we are here what the heck is there to do?

The Okanagan is bursting with things to do.  Our near perfect weather makes doing it all fun and our fabulous wines make it even more relaxing.

Whether you want a relaxing laid back kind of holiday or a full to the brim hours of sightseeing, wine tasting, attractions and adventure we are situated right in the center of the fun.  Penticton and Summerland are just to the south and West Kelowna and Kelowna to the north.

Peachland’s World of Wheels is one of the biggest car shows around

Walking, Hiking and Biking

There are some fantastic hiking and biking trails right at our doorstep.  Miles of trails lead you to abandoned mines, deer trails, marmot holes and the view. And what a view it is!

Peachland boasts 4 miles of beautiful beachfront to walk, cycle or suntan on.  .

Hardy Falls,  where one of the only kokanee spawning creeks on Okanagan Lake, meanders though huge trees, is a nice short walk.

Powers Creek offers world class mountain biking.  Kettle Valley trails and the Myra Canyon trestles are a fabulous day trip and offered with Adventure Tour operators throughout the valley.

Swimming and Boating

Beautiful, clear and inviting, Okanagan Lake is just 3 minutes down the hill (2.3 kms.)   Peachland  Marina has boat rentals and gasoline and there are many boat launches along the beach.

Swim Bay (the place for teens) offers the only public lifeguarded beach in BC.  The lake is accessible and swimmable all along the Peachland waterfront.  Many other provincial park beaches are within  a few miles.

Golfing in the Okanagan

Right across the road is Ponderosa Golf Course.  It is currently closed awaiting development into a Greg Norman Course. Due to open in 2010. There are many courses within 20 kms of Peachland.  Check them out at Okanagan Golf.

Okanagan Wineries

There are 50 wineries within 20 kms and a winery for every taste.  Intimate tours of small artisan wineries, classy upscale tours with food and wine pairing, wine festivals, wine tasting, grape stomping are all available in the Okanagan.  Private tours can be arranged but most wineries offer lunches, tours and tastings daily.

Okanagan Attractions

The Kettle Valley Steam Train trip is one of my favourites and every guest who has been loves it.  It suits every age group and is especially fun when a real train robbery is staged.  Reservations are recommended.

There are  go carts, car racing, climbing walls, the H20 indoor park , skate board parks and mini golf as well as many other attractions.  Check these out at Okanagan Tourist Attractions.

Restaurants and Food

The Okanagan is home to some of the best chefs in Canada.  Great fresh fruits and vegetables, a burgeoning artisanal foods industry and the fabulous wines attract both foodies and chefs to this area.  Many Okanagan Restaurants feature the hundred mile diet and offer fresh local ingredients.  There are dairies offering amazing cheeses including Poplar Grove and Carmeli’s Goat Cheeses award winning bakeries like Okanagan Artisan  Breads and specialty items like Valentine Farms, Little Creek Dressing and  Swimming Dragon Chocolates.
